The Research Behind The Sauna Shield.
We didn't build this because it sounded good. We built it because the science demanded it.
What happens to the male body in a sauna
Your testicles are located outside the body for a reason. Sperm production (spermatogenesis) requires a temperature 2–3°C lower than your core body temperature. This is why the scrotal anatomy exists: to act as a natural thermoregulator, moving the testicles closer to or further from the body depending on ambient temperature.
In a sauna environment reaching 80–100°C, this system is overwhelmed. The body cannot cool the scrotal area fast enough scrotal temperature typically starts climbing almost immediately upon exposure, not gradually over the course of a session, and can rise well beyond the safe threshold within minutes of sitting down for a 20–45 minute session.
A landmark 2013 study published in Human Reproduction (Garolla et al.) followed 10 healthy male volunteers through two sauna sessions per week for three months. The findings were stark: sperm concentration dropped significantly, sperm DNA packaging was altered, and mitochondrial function in sperm cells was measurably impaired.
The silver lining: these effects were largely reversible within 3–6 months of stopping sauna use. But for men who use saunas regularly and don't want to stop the question becomes: is there a better way?
The solution
The Sauna Shield Pack activates instantly. Squeeze it until you feel a pop, and an internal reaction begins absorbing heat at a controlled, steady rate. There's no freezer involved: nothing to pre-chill, nothing to plan ahead for. It's ready the moment you need it, wherever you are, and it maintains comfortable, controlled cooling at the contact surface for the duration of a full sauna session.
The result: you stay on the bench. The heat works on the rest of your body. And your reproductive system is protected.
